Reflection (Four) 10/8/2011

First time, I felt something about “leadership”, it was a Wednesday. In my way to school by subway, I saw a poster said, “I teach leadership.” It is an advertising poster about a university. Before reading this essay, I think leadership means the manager should be the top one in his team. In other word, he should be the best in his job, or he is not the leader. However, after reading this essay, I know different kinds of leadership. And leadership has a complex meaning. I know about the leadership deeper than before. I hope I will be a good leader in the future.

Reflection (Three) 10/1/2011

I agree with this essay‘s opinion which is “Managers tend to prefer oral over written communication.” Oral is not only useful in management, but also in our real life. After reading the essay, I know more new words. It is really helpful. For example, “verbal“ and “oral”.  I used to usually say “spoken”, instead of “verbal” and “oral”. In addition, I learn something about the communication process, such as its basic components.

I hope would know more about how to speak well and effective in the future.

Reflection (Two) 9/24/2011

In this class, it was really fun, especially when we talk about compliment. It is true that “In speaking well of others, you speak well of yourself.” Therefore, it is very important that we have to learn how to compliment others. In the new class room, meeting new friends, how to talk with others you don’t know in the beginning?
”Oh. Your rings are beautiful. Where are you found it?”
……
You see. It is easy, isn’t it? After class, I was very happy that I can see the detail of our homework through Professor Westry ’s blog. In addition, we can share our opinions in our blog.

Reflection (One) 9/17/2011

This is the second class of Business English. Today we talk about making suggestions, apologizing, socializing and positive responses and something about the grammar, such as words in context and compound. I think the most helpful thing in this class is making suggestions. Before this class, I don’t know there are many way to make suggestions in our real life. I used to usually use “maybe you can…..”, ”Shall we……” and “I think….”. I don’t know the different of them and what is the effect and better word in making suggestions. After this class I learn a class, it is really helpful. I want to learn more about how to speak well in my life and business.
